Zinedine Zidane was born on 23 June 1972 in La Castellane, Marseille, to Algerian parents. He began playing football at age five on a plaza in his neighborhood. At 14, he was spotted by an AS Cannes scout at a training camp and joined the club, making his professional debut in 1989. He later played for Bordeaux, winning the 1995 Intertoto Cup, and moved to Juventus in 1996, where he won two Serie A titles and played in consecutive Champions League finals. In 2001, he transferred to Real Madrid for a world-record fee of €77.5 million, winning a La Liga title and the Champions League, scoring a famous left-foot volleyed winner in the 2002 final.
